Newsgator takes their Social offerings for SharePoint to the next level with Lookout. I love the fact that users can now target custom streams of information in the organisation with Lookout in both SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2013. New social intelligence features via a recommendations engine sounds very interesting.
The Lookout interface looks awesome and is touch-enabled for Windows 8. I can’t wait to check it out.
I set up the Managed Metadata Service in SharePoint 2010 to push down Content Types from a central type hub site.
My subscriber site which was created from a Blank Site template was meant to receive Content Type additions and updates from the central type hub site. However the subscriber, due to the Blank Site template being used, was missing the TaxonomyFeatureStapler Feature being activated by default to get the whole “push down” process working.
The most obvious symptom of an incomplete subscription setup is the missing “Content type publishing” link, in the subscriber sites, within Site Actions -> Site Settings -> Site Collection Administration settings group as shown below.
Run the following stsadm command for each of the subscriber sites experiencing the issue;
stsadm -o activatefeature -id 73EF14B1-13A9-416b-A9B5-ECECA2B0604C -url http://SubscriberSiteURL
